181 Nursing examinees of Cebu university pass test


CEBU CITY – All of the 181 nursing examinees of Cebu Normal University (CNU) passed the July 2011 Nursing Licensure Examination with three of its passers landing the top ten highest places.
Seven other schools also recorded a 100 percent overall passing performance while 12 schools recorded a zero or none of its examinees passed the test.

Results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Saturday showed that 48 percent or 37,513 of the 78,135 who took the examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Nueva Ecija, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last July 2011 passed.

The results of examination with respect to six examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examination, the PRC said. Examinees are categorized as first timers and repeaters.

A graduate of the University of the Philippines-Manila, Jomel Garcia Lapides, topped the examination with a rating of 88.40 percent.

Seven examinees from Cebu Schools also made it to the top 10 together with 64 other successful passers.

Patricia Teodoro Pintac of Cebu Doctors College is top four with a passing rate of 87 percent. Jacob Cabrera Reyes of CNU is top six with 86.60 passing rate. Lowel Andrew Andales Batomalaque of CNU and Cherryl Joyce Cabatingan Tan of Velez College shared the eighth place with 86.20 passing rate.

Thea Mae Medalla Baronda of Velez College garnered 86 percent which landed her on the ninth place. Jane Febe Booc Cabatingan of CNU and Deo Robert Bodiongan Castro shared the 10th place with a passing rate of 85.80 percent.

List of successful examinees who garnered the top 10 highest places
Among the top performing schools is West Visayas State University – La Paz with 161 examinees also passing the test. It recorded a 100 percent overall performance.

University of Sto. Tomas garnered a 99.79 percent overall performance or 468 of the 469 examinees passed the exam.

The Chinese General Hospital College of Nursing & Liberal Arts with an overall performance passing rate of 99.71 percent or 338 of the 339 who took the examination passing it.
Saint Louis University of Baguio City had 593 passers from among 602 examinees and a passing rate of 98.50 percent.

The Trinity University of Asia saw 388 of the 389 pass for a success rate of 99.74 percent while Saint Paul University-Iloilo and St. Paul University – Dumaguete recorded a 99.22 percent and 99.04 percent respectively.

Velez College in Cebu City had 219 of the 224 examinees passing the test or P97.71 percent passing rate.

Cebu City Medical Center (Cebu City General Hospital) had 96.47 percent passing rate or 82 or the 85 examinees passing the board exams. Here is the complete list of the Nursing schools performance

Pursuant to Section 16, of Republic Act No. 9173, “all successful candidates in the examination shall be required to take an oath of professional before the Board or any government official authorized to administer oaths prior to entering upon the nursing practice”.

The new nurses will take their oaths at dates and venues to be announced later, the PRC said.

The PRC also announced that registration for new nurses shall require the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), two pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), one piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of metered documentary stamps and one short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2011-2014. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals. (Sunnex)
