P1M Worth of Scholarships Released for Kalinga OFW Dependents

The Congressional District Office (CDO) of Kalinga Representative Manuel Agyao has released P1 million from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for its OFW scholarship program in the province.

DOLE Kalinga Chief Dr. Avelina Manganip said this is open to all college OFW dependents. Fourth year high school students could also register in preparation for their college studies, she said.

Qualified she said are dependents or children of Kalinga OFWs who are actively working abroad or repatriated. Brothers and sisters of single OFWs she said could also apply.

To ensure its proper implementation, the CDO and DOLE are currently working on the guidelines of the new scholarship program, but registration she said are now open to applicants.

Interested applicants could visit DOLE-Kalinga for guidance in the accomplishments of the requirements.

According to Manganip, DOLE-Kalinga is appreciative of the efforts of the CDO in helping the Kalinga OFWs through their dependents. The scholarship grant is expected to assist a significant number of OFW dependents.

Just recently, the CDO has also allotted P1 million for OFW livelihood programs. At least three proposals have already reached DOLE Kalinga while the other OFWs are now working to have their organizations registered to qualify for the program.
