More Pinoy Men Eye Domestic Work Abroad


But the job no longer attracts Filipino women only; it now draws even the opposite sex.
Thirty-four year old Romulo Cayaban is excited to work overseas for the first time. Before accepting overseas employment, Cayaban worked as a security guard and bus driver.

“Ok lang sa akin sir. Basta ang mahalaga may trabaho ako sir, mayroon akong maiano sa pamilya ko,” he said. His soon-to-be employer is a retired doctor in Italy.

Marlon Balicao, 38, is also going to be a DH in Italy. Balicao said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now teaching them basic Italian language and the country’s culture.
